Pregnant after IF

Progesterone went right back up but....

They still won't take me off the endometrin!  My only p4 level below 25 was this tuesday, it dipped to 24.  p4 is so variable, but they insisted on putting me on endometrin.  I will do anything to take care of this baby, so I gladly agreed and have been taking the medicine (even though with my high deductible insurance it cost me $400!).

Anyway, it is my understanding that the suppositories don't get absorbed into the blood, but today my p4 level went back to 40.8.  I asked if I could discontinue the messy medicine and was told that I shouldn't, but that I could do what I want.  So, I'll keep taking it.  Do you think putting me on it when I dropped once to 24 was appropriate?

Also, my betas rose from 2194 on Tuesday to 7157 (25DPO) and I have my 6 week ultrasound on monday!  So excited.

  • It was my understanding that once you are on progesterone you have to stay on it through the first trimester. I was told discontinuing once you are on it can result in miscarriage. I was on my progesterone supplements until 12 weeks.

I've also heard this. I'm going to be on mine for 12 weeks also but my progesterone is much lower than yours (between 12 - 15).

  • I guess that is a good point, maybe like a withdrawal (for when they use it to start a period)?  I wasnt planning on discontinuing it, but just curious if anyone else was told to stay on it even if the level went up.

  • Mine is in the 40's too, and has been since the BFP, but they are keeping me on Crinone until 8 weeks.  I hear that 8-12 weeks is typical.  I am sorry Endometrin isn't working out for you :-(  TMI, but we tried DTD last night for the first time in like forever, and it was a giant messy fail.  Only 12 more days....
