Our district tries to keep the ratio 15:1, but this year they had the biggest enrollment for Kindergarten ever so most of the classes are over that. DS's class is 19:1.
First grade, 21 kids, technically one teacher. They happen to have an aide this year because the girl in a motorized wheelchair is in his class. She's her aide, but I know she helps out with everything.
Last year, there were 23 in his K class and the 4 classes shared an aide (and had parent volunteers for center time almost every day).
I'm a teacher. At my suburban public school there are about 25 kids to 1 teacher in most grades (K-5). We cannot have more that 28/1. The smallest class I've had is 23, the largest 28.

DS's kindergarten class has 16 kids 1 teacher, and 1 paraprofessional who moves between two kindergarten classes throughout the day. I think the largest class in the school has 25 kids, one teacher, and 1 para.
Re: Teacher to Student ratio
