1st Trimester

Making first appointment

When should I call the Dr? I just found out last Friday and I feel like it is still so soon. What did others do? Right away? Wait?

Re: Making first appointment

  • I would call and get the appointment.  Most will not bring you in until some time between 6-8wks.  Doesn't hurt to call and ask.

  • I found out I was pregnant when i was 2 weeks late, then a few days later i called to make my appointment... they couldnt get me in for almost 2 weeks, might as well call and set it up, if anything happens (praying that it doesnt) you can always cancel.

  • some drs don't even have you come in until 8 weeks - you should call your dr and see what they recommend tho, based on your personal history, date of last period, etc.

  • I called my Dr. to confirm my pregnancy right away but it was SO early (LOL), he asked me to go to the lab the next day for another confirmation! (I didnt really get that, b/c a super faint positive, is still a positive, isnt it??) I still dont have a due date, but I know when i got my last period.

I would make an appointment as soon as possible, just to confirm and find out an estimated due date. Congrats!!!

  • I asked this same question a few days ago and everyone suggested calling right away and I am glad that I did... since my Doctor is no longer doing prenatal visits or labor and delivery I had no idea so I had to change doctors......... I went today to the new doctor and was there for prob 1.5 hours since they had to retake all of my family medical history down ....... and they did blood work and urine tests and set up my 8 week appt ( a few days early since I will be on vacation) and my 1st ultrasound........ good luck!
