That always freaks me out because my brother was (and still is) at Virginia Tech when that shooting occurred. My little sister is away at college too.

Coming out of lurkdom for just a second to bring a news update... I live fairly close to there, and the current word is that it was a false alarm. I teach HS and we're keeping up with it at school. This is the version of the story from the local news.

omg, that's so sad.  i hope there weren't any injuries... 

i went to tech, but i wasn't there when the shootings happened (very thankful for that).  so sad, and so scary.

The heading of the story says shots were fired but in the body they say that it cannot be confirmed that weapons were involved.
