When did you take your 2 year old off whole milk products? I heard that once they reach 2 years old it's best to reduce from whole milk to 2% and to also buy more low fat cheeses and yogurts?
At our 2 year appointment our pedi told us he could start drinking whatever milk we drink. We don't drink that much milk, so I just switched him to 2 %. He eats the same dairy products we do.

My DS is pretty small (5%), so the pedi has us still giving him the whole milk. She said we could switch if we wanted. I am thinking it depends on the LO.
DS is already on lowfat yogurt (greek); he's 18 mos old and in the 99% of height and 94% of weight so I dont think he needs it; he still drinks whole milk and will do so until his 2nd bday. With DD I switched her right on her 2nd bday too
DD has always been a peanut, so we have kept her on whole milk- cheese is low-fat though, since that is what we eat. Since DD2 will be then transitioning to whole milk around 1, we figured it would be est to keep DD1 on whole until they are both ready to go to 2%. That way we don't have to buy whole milk, 2% and fat free!
DD is still on whole milk. Now that DS is 2 we're going to swap them down to 2%. DD will even drink my skim milk with no problem so I am not anticipating a huge issue.
At DD's 2 year appointment we were told that we could take her off of the whole milk and have her drink whatever we drink. At that point we moved her to 2%. I didn't switch her yogurt or cheese though - we have always given her what is in the house (low fat cheese, yogurt, etc.).
When DS turned 2, I switched him to 2% on my own. Then a few weeks later at his well child appt, pedi told me he could drink what we drink...so he is now on 1%.

Go Phils!!
Christmas PJ's!
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
I waited until DD was almost 3 to switch. I switched to 2%.
She is small (5% or below all of her life) so I know she needed the fat, but I have noticed that she is eating alot more food now.
