Any suggestions??

I'm having major trouble sleeping. I'm 8w1d and the past 2 weeks I haven't been able to get a good nights rest. It's not even the peeing that is bothering me. By 1 am, I wake up for what feels like the hundredth time and am frustrated and it only continues.

If I get an hour or hour and a half of sleep without waking up, once I do wake up, I'm awake for an hour plus trying to fall back asleep.

Obviously I can't take any OTC sleep aids, so I am desperate for suggestions. I don't really get fatigued before bedtime but I just hate that I can't even get 3 hour stretches of sleep. It's constant waking up and it's starting to stress me out. :(

Re: Any suggestions??

  • Check with your doctor, but mine has Tylenol PM on the approved otc meds list.  Maybe that could help?

  • I had the same problem, but it's gotten better for me. The longer I layed in bed awake the more frustrated I became. I would get up and either watch TV or read for a little while. Usually within 30 minutes I started to fall asleep and would go back to bed.

  • I take tylenol PM occasionally myself....i usually just take 1 and it helps.

I hope you find something that helps :(

  • Thanks girls. I will call to see if there is anything I can take. I'm getting desperate. It's from the time I lay down until the alarm goes off - constant tossing and turning and waking up and then not being able to fall back to sleep.

  • I have the same problem and my doctor said Bendaryl or Unisom are fine a few times a week!

  • I used to take unisom or the stores generic now and then before getting pregnant and just a night here or there would relieve some stress/depression I'm starting to feel from not getting any good rest for the past 2 weeks. I appreciate all of your feedback, ladies.

  • Without drug options, Maybe you could try some easy (meaning non-sweat inducing) yoga moves or deep breathing/meditation before bed?  I'm also a big fan of stress-relief music to fall asleep to (if your bedmate doesn't object!!)  I'm so sorry- it's so miserable when you can't sleep :(

  • You can definitely take Unisom. My doctor suggested it for relief with nausea -- I take half a tablet with B6 before bed. I don't know about more than half a tablet, but I find that I sleep really well for at least half the night!
  • My doc recommended Unisom. I was going to get some melatonin before I read about the possible developmental defects of it. I would give the Unisom a try.
