Moms of 2+ kiddos: do their names 'go' together?

Just found out I am expectng DC#2 (whoops...haven't created a ticker yet)...Anyhow, of course names pop into my mind....wondering about names that 'go' together well with DS's name. Anyone else feel this way??

Re: Moms of 2+ kiddos: do their names 'go' together?

  • Well, all 3 of mine have very Italian names...so I guess you could say they "go together"

  • Tyler and Holly... Guess they are both slightly dated names, they don't seem odd together. I know sibs Sky and Tara to me they seem odd together.

  • I don't really think mine go together (Xander, Hayden, Lily, Jericho.) With the triplets we actually wanted to avoid names that were matchy or went together too much.

  • I think our names will go together great.  We will have an Aiden and Eli.

  • I think ours do (Max and Eden).  I even know another pair with the same names (older and we didn't know them when we named our kids).  I'm definitely thinking about what goes with their names in naming #3.

    DS1 age 7, DD age 5 and DS2 born 4/3/12
  • Not really?  But kinda?  Rylee and Malakai = Ry and Kai as NN's... and DS's are going to be Malakai and Ezra, so both biblical names...
    Rylee - 3.28.08
    Malakai - 8.3.09
    Ezra - 12.1.11 ASD
  • Both DD have traditional Irish boy names. DC#3 will have an Irish boys name too, whether a boy or girl. MN are all grandparent middle names.

  • I think so.  Both boys names are 1 syllable.  They each originated as surnames, but are definitely not youneek as first names and are ranked about the same 400 ish on SS list. Reed is my dad's mn and Pierce's mn is FIL's mn so they both have a family name too.
  • They both have saint's names and they are old fashioned names: Theodore and Francis.

For #3 we are considering Margaret, Elizabeth, Gregory, George, and Henry.

They all have a R too, with the exception of Elizabeth.  But I prefer that the beginning and ending sounds are different.

  • We have a Mason and a Jackson. So now we're not sure whether #3's name should end in SON, or just be whatever.

  • Carson and Dylan. I think they do and most other people say they do. I tried to avoid anything too similar like Mason because I don't like them to be too matchy, but I also avoided a few very traditional names because they really didn't go with Carson. Henry was one that DH and I liked, but Carson and Henry just didn't seem to jive IMO.
  • It's important to me that my children's names sound nice together. And, yes, I think my boys' names go well together.

After picking names for #3, I was reading through The Baby Name Wizard again (my fav baby names book) and realized:

Our 2 boys' names and our pick for a girl (Owen, Caleb & Eliza) were all listed in the 'Antique Charm' category.

When I looked up our boys' pick (Seth), it listed our other boys (Owen & Caleb) as sibling suggestions.

I take these as signs to mean that our names go together well :)  I usually do a 'Christmas card test' and write out all of our names as a family, like when I sign a Christmas card from all of us, to make sure the names go together.

Every time I see your siggy I think to myself "Those names sound great together!" ;-)

  • I don't know if mine (Jason and Alisha) do. I like them together but that"s because I like those names.
  • I think so - DS name is Kian and we have a girl due in December who will be named Carys.

  • Lilly and Lilah--yeah, they REALLY go together!
  • I think they do: Matthew and Alexandra (Lexie).

  • I guess they "go". We had a hell of a time choosing a name. It definitely seeme to influence my husbands name choices more than mine (trying to make them "go").

DS1 has what would be considered a trendy name (Chase), and I wanted something more traditional for DS2. We ended up going with something non-traditional for DS2 as well.

  • I wouldn't say mine match by any means, but they aren't completely opposing either. I'm not a big fan of themes, but thats just my preference.

  • I can't speak for myself, but I do have nieces and nephews that I think go well together:

    Nick, Lily and Molly

    Annie and Teddy

They don't match, but they sound right together.

  • I think mine, Anneliese and Hazel, go pretty well together. Especially since Anneliese almost always goes by "Annie". They're both older, spunky names.

I actually think they go together in my own nerdy way. Tara/Terra = earth.  So, Sky and earth go together quite nicely.  But then again, I don't expect everyone else to make that connection.  So, style wise, they seem a little different.
