Trying to Get Pregnant

?'s to ask Dr. after CD 60

I am currently in a cycle that is pretty close to 60 days with no sign of ovulation. I have a Dr.'s appt next week. Anyone who has experienced this, did you have questions that you asked the Dr? Would you mind sharing what I should be asking my Dr?

I have never had this problem so I am not sure what to think or expect.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: ?'s to ask Dr. after CD 60

  • I'm on CD 56 and calling my doctor on Monday.  For the most part, I will let her ask the questions and I will tell her what's been going on.  I have heard that somtimes doctors will give you something to "jump start" your period.  If that is her suggestion, I will have some questions about that.  Because I don't know when I ovulated and my H and I BD on a regular basis, It may be a long shot, but what if I ovulated, say, 2 days ago (just picked that randomly) and did in fact get pregnant at that point - it would be too early to detect, but I wouldn't want to take something that could be harmful.  So I guess one question I will have is: when can you be 100% sure you are not and are not going to get pregnant this cycle when I am pretty much clueless about my O date or if it's even occured.

  • if you go 35 days or more without your period, it means you did not ovulate for that cycle. there is medicine to start your period, but i cant remember what it is called. good luck

    This is totally false.

  • That happened to me. I had a really hard time conceiving my LO. My average cycle days are 45 and vary widely. I took chasteberry (found in grocery stores with herbal medicines) to get my cycle to become normal, brought it to 32 days! You could also look into FertilAid. I took that before I started chasteberry. I think they work the same, I got same results. I don't think you should take if you usually have normal cycles, but it could just start your cycles.

  • that is not totally false. my doctor told me that.
  • Thanks Ladies! I will find out more next week and update. From what I have researched, I may need a med called Provera to get things moving.

Then your doctor is an idiot.  How would your DR explain women who O on CD 25 or 30 and get pregnant?

  • Thats fine. You dont have to be rude. I was just passing along information since she asked. Its not like I would make something like this up. It came from my OBGYN who is also a fertility specialist.

I hope that your doctor can give you some better answers. Again, good luck.

I went 60+ days without a period after coming off of BC.  My doctor prescribed Provera (after giving me a pregnancy test).  I took it for a week and got my period a week later.  That was in July and I have yet to see my period again.  I am currently on CD 52.  So Provera won't necessarily make your cycles regular again.  I am moving on to a RE because I don't want to continue going to my OB if there is in fact a problem.

    Good luck!

So, it is an OB/GYN who gave him/herself an extra title that means pretty much nothing.

Again, pass along info that is true.  Saying you don't O if you go 35 days without a period is simply not true.

  • Wow! AGAIN, I was trying to be nice passing along information that my doctor gave me. If she does not want the information she does not have to take it and can ask her doctor. AGAIN why would I make something like that up? I have fertility issues myself and I would not intentionally try to give false information.
