Trying to Get Pregnant

Is Your DH Doing Anything to Prepare?

All of this talk about what we are doing to help us TTC got me thinking.....

Is your DH doing anything??

I know we all talk about various things such as taking PNV's, drinking green tea, eating pineapple core, cutting back on alcohol and caffiene, drinking pomegranate juice, using preseed, using OPKs, etc.  The list goes on.  Obviously this is in part due to the fact that WE are the ones that need to carry the baby. But is your DH cutting back on alcohol, quitting smoking, taking a multivitimin, keeping his computer off his lap, or switching to boxers Wink? Or is he just enjoying the ride?

  • My DH is taking vitamins and trying to quit smoking. Also, he has agreed if I can't drink then he won't be drinking either. I'm very proud of him.

  • less hot tub time - the place we work out has great hot tubs and it's about a 2 minute walk from our house, so we used to use them a lot.  Since TTC, we really rarely go in.

  • He's taking a multivitamin and we're walking together to get in better shape.  Neither of us smoke or drink alcohol or coffee, so nothing to give up there.  Though I need to cut back on my coca-cola addiction!  That's about it.

  • He isn't really doing anything physiological wise.. he'll be cutting back on caffeine next week or so, but he doesn't really have any unhealthy habits..

He has been making more of an effort around the house though. I came back from a weekend away to sparkly clean living room, and today I came home to him cleaning the bedroom and re organizing the laundry..and he told me to get rid of old clothes today Crying.. So yeah, I think he's nesting..

  • We're still very new to TTC so we are both still in the 'enjoying the ride' phase. I wouldn't classify his drinking as more that light to moderate so, until a doctor tells me otherwise, I see no point in changing that. I asked him if he wanted to know the dates around ovulation just so we were on the same page with that and he did.

The only other thing has been looking to sell his car (we live in Manhattan so this is a major expense). We can switch over to a service like Zip Car for when we have to have one but it will save a significant amount in monthly garaging fees and annual insurance. It was kind of hard for him to make that decision; he had bought it right after his second deployment (he was living in KS at the time) so I recognize that this is a huge sacrifice for him but one which he has been glad to make.

OMG. The car thing is a killer!  We are in Queens, and I just transferred over our insurance for NY, and we are paying $150 more PER month than we were before. I just about choked.  We don't pay for parking because we just do street parking, and we don't really use our EZPass, but the insurance alone is insane.  We are not in the best area for being totally without a car though, so I want to feel it out for a few months before we decide whether to ditch it.  I have 2 job interviews in Manhattan next week, so if I get one of those, I will need to start getting a monthly unlimited metro pass. It all adds up so quickly. :(

  • No he isn't,  In general, we are both trying to eat better an exercise more ,but that has nothing to do with ttc.  And he doesn't want to know when he need to have sex vs. me just wanting to.
  • MH called me at work one day specifically to say he thinks the reason I am not KU yet is because he has his laptop on his lap at home.  Now granted he does have the soft lid of a footrest between his lap and the computer, but some heat still probably gets through.

I know they say heat is bad, but I just laugh because I doubt that is THE reason, as if his laptop is shooting all of his sperm dead.

I laughed even harder when I walk in a few nights later and see the ice pack sitting on the table.  He hurts himself a lot at work so I figured that was the case, but no, he said he was icing his junk to cool off, LMAO!

  • He takes a multivitamin, doesn't use heated seats, and got a lap desk to put his laptop on.  He also wears looser boxers instead of boxer briefs.

  • He takes/too zinc and selenium supplements. Both increase male fertility. With DD, we got pregnant on our 8th cycle trying (2nd cycle after he started taking them). This time, he started taking them before we TTGP and we got PG on the 2nd cycle.
