I love our Picture People but its only b/c I have found a wonderful photographer. We've used another one there and she was terrible so now I always request this one. The first time I went I fell in love with the pics and bought a package. I think it was like $250 and included a framed 8x10, a framed trilogy, a framed 10x13 and then 10 mix and match sheets. I was happy with it but I WAAAAAAAAAY overbought. Ever since I've just been buying sheets. I always bring a coupon for a free sheet and usually it has a % off for the rest of the purchase. I'm also a portrait club member so I get those disciounts too.
I use the Picture People quite a bit. I don't ever buy a package, honestly I didn't even know they existed. Definitely sign up for the portrait club, it's well worth the $30. Then be sure you have a coupon, usually you can find them for 20% off entire purchase plus one 8X10 free. Usually they'll give you one in the store if you don't have one.
Like any place similar, sometimes you get stuck with a dud photographer (I've had it happen once out of like 5 visits). Maybe ask for someone that's been there awhile so you know they are experienced.
Lastly, don't feel pressured to buy the fancy prints that they blow up and frame to show you. I usually tell them to not even bother because I'm not going to buy it, sometimes they act a bit huffy about it but I don't like to see things go to waste.
Last time I went I just wanted 2 sheets of wallets (my dd's dance pics) and with my portrait card and the coupon my bill was like $6.00. I was almost embarrassed it was ridiculously cheap. (Oh and I got a free 8X10 with that.)
