those that got rid of the binky...question for you

DD has been without her binky for 2 and a half weeks. now her routine is to get her to sleep is read her a book then giver her a back rub. but that usually takes like 40 mins.  What was your routine after you got rid of the binky? DD used to go down for naps and bed with in minutes with having the binky....now not so much! i have to rub her until she is knocked out! i feel like i have a little baby again! although i dont mind it all that much because its sweet to do that with her but when i'm so exhausted from working all day some days i just wish she would go down!

  • My suggestions -

    1. Stop rubbing her back all the time.  Just sit next to her and rub everny now and then, in a couple days just sit by her, then move across the room and sit, and then sit by the door, and fianlly just leave - each step doing for a couple days.

    or

    2. you can just tell her that you will rub her back while you sing 1 song (ie Twinkle twinke) then you are going to leave and then leave after 1 song.

  • I think the PP has great suggestions.  I would tell my son that I could rub his back a certain number of times, usually 10.  He would help me count, and usually would be satisfied.
