Sciatic Nerve pain...

has anyone else had any sciatic nerve pain yet? I hear this is a pregnancy symptom sometimes--but I didn't think that it would start THIS early?!  It hurts on my lower right back and shoots down my butt cheek and into my leg with every step i take.  At night it hurts even worse!!! Almost to the point that I can barely walk...anyone else?

Re: Sciatic Nerve pain...

  • I started having some nerve pain in my lower back earlier this week.  It is near the middle to left side of my back and every time I moved it was the worst shooting pain!  I could feel it when I walk also.  Not Fun!

  • I have it.. I have an appt with my chiropractor on Monday to be adjusted... thats a starter.. in the meantime there are excercises you can do to help stretch the muscles around it.. https://www.livestrong.com/article/303172-exercise-for-sciatic-pain-from-piriformis-syndrome/

  • Try stretching. I had a slipped disc prior to getting pregnant so I know that pain. It is important to just get on the floor and try and relax the muscles. I do it every night while watching TV for about 30 minutes.

  • I have it and I see a chiropractor.  She gave me several stretches to do, she tells me to ICE NOT HEAT my back every day and she told me to drink a lot of water: your body weight/2= ounces of water to drink each day.

  • I had this so bad with #1 I almost had to stop working cause I couldnt walk at all. I have had it acting up already this time, so I went straight to the chiropractor to get it under control before that happened again. Believe me, you have enough going on in 2nd and 3rd tri that you do not want this to flare up. Stretching doesn't help mine unfortunately, mine is in the joint, and not in my legs at all. After about 2 weeks going to the chiro, I was almost completely back to 100%, and this time, it has only taken 3 trips to be ok. I will continue to go every couple weeks to make sure it doesn't flare up.
  • This just started with me about 4 or 5 days ago. It comes and goes but when it is here, OH MAN! I tried a heating pad which didn't do anything, but I just read a post above that it's better to ice it than heat it! I will try that next time it acts up. I talked to my mom about it and although she didn't suffer with the pain during pregnancy, my aunt dealt with it throughout her first pregnancy. Here we go!! Good luck to all!
