Food Allergy

blood in poop of breastfed baby at 3 month?

Okay, so I went through this with my first DS, so I'm pretty sure it's MSPI.  Only with my first he started having mucus and blood in his stool around 6 weeks.  I thought we were in the clear with DS2 until last night when I found specks of blood in his poop.  He has also been having mucusy poop for the past couple of weeks.

With DS1, I stopped breastfeeding and went from formula to formula and ended up on Neocate because it was the only formula that stopped the bleeding.  I don't want to go through that again, so I am determined to eliminate milk and soy from my diet.

I'm just confused as to why this would start at 3 months.  He had the rotovirus vaccine last week and my mom is convinced that he is reacting to that (she is very anti-vaccine).  I don't think that's the problem, but I'm wondering if it could be.

Has anyone else had MSPI start showing symptoms so late?

He does not have any other symptoms.   No colic, no gas, no reflux, just mucus and blood.  My first was the same exact way...

  • I'm going to be totally honest with you. I do believe there is a vaccine link to allergies. My youngest had only a slight intolerance to milk before his vaccine injury. After his injury, he's left with a slew of allergies and sensitivities. His situation was severe and immediate so for me, 1+1=2. Granted, there are a thousand theories for why allergies are on the increase, just sharing our experience.

i have never even considered vaccines having anything to do with it.  We gave my son his first vaccine a bit later than normal and spread them out a lot, but his eczema did start around the first vaccine (or second).. might be all a coincidence.  Do you think it's a certain vaccine?

Also, what injury did he have? i think it's on your blog so i know i can probably go and read up on it. I'm petrified of vaccines but i'm a lot more petrified of no vaccines. I feel like doctors just try to give kids too much and too fast and never consider how their immune system is around the time they are given the vaccines.

I do also believe it has a lot to do with what is in our food supply now.  This is one of my favorite videos that speaks a bit about the food supply and all the GMO's that linger in what we eat.

  • Definately let your dr. know about the possible vaccine reaction.  My youngest's eczema and cradle cap got significantly worse after a shot day (prevnar and something else I can't remember off the top of my head)- and we never get more than 2 vax-es at once.  We're pushing back his next round of those until after we see the allergist.  And even when we decide to give them- it will be one at a time.

Lots of the shots use egg or bovine protiens as part of the compound.  People that are severely allergic to eggs or dairy may have a reaction while other kids won't.  The amount of egg/bovine protein isn't always regulated or disclosed since it isn't an "active" part of the vaccine.
