I'm sorry I haven't posted here in forever, but my son is 21 months old and allergic to milk, eggs and peanuts. We go next Friday to the allergist to do an in-office food challenge to see if he tolerates cooked egg (not straight, but in something).
They told me to bring something for him to eat w/ cooked egg, but it can't have milk because we aren't testing for that yet...but I'm at a loss. Problem is he's super picky as it is and not into trying new things. I'm thinking I may have to bring a couple different options.
Any ideas??
ps. I'm cool with something unhealthy like brownies, etc. for this purpose, but maybe I should avoid chocolate because he's never really had it...
Re: Need suggestions for cooked egg challenge (in dr's office)!
Can you make simple muffin with just one egg? I use this recipe for my muffins, i think you can just throw an egg in to the batter. (not sure if that will mess up the recipe though).
Muffins are usually a hit with kids, even when they are picky. Can you make him a recipe of muffins without eggs to see if he eats the muffin first and then give him a muffin a day so you know he is eating it?
good luck! i can't wait until we are in the same boat as you!!!!!!
I haven't read the previous responses, so please forgive me if they've been mentioned. Does he eat pancakes? That's what we do for most of DS' allergy challenges. I just add whatever we're testing for and I know he's sure to eat it. Muffins and cookies are easy and transportable. Good luck with your challenge!
