So, I posted a couple weeks ago about DD getting a few odd bumps here and there on her body and I didn't know what it could be related to since all of her allergies have been GI reactions. You all helped me determine it may have been related to a switch I had semi-recently made from All Free and Clear detergent to Tide Free and Clear.
Fast forward to Monday of this week...I gave her some applesauce with cinnamon in it as a test. Well, she puked 1/2 hour later and got red bumps on her chest and back immediately and the next morning had the red "allergy ring" on her tush. She also puked on Tuesday even though I scaled her food back to only peas, chicken and rice. Well I've given her nothing but coconut milk yogurt, peas, chicken and rice the rest of Monday, all day Tuesday, Wednesday and today and she still has red bumps on her chest and back.
My question: could she suddenly be reacting to something that she has had dozens of times with no issue? Is it possible that the cinnamon is taking this long to get out of her system and I shouldn't worry? Could the bumps still be environment (like detergent or something else) related instead of having to do with food?
She has her 1 year well-check on Tuesday of next week, so I didn't want to rush her into the doctor now (especially since it isn't bothering her). But what do you guys think I should do? What questions should I go to the doctor with?
Re: I hate allergies!!!!
My answer to both of these is yes. Yes, she could be reacting to something she's had often with no issue. All of my food allergies were diagnosed at age 14 or later, and they were foods I consumed daily.
The bumps could be environmental, though--could be related to weather changes, pollen changes, detergent, etc.
agree.
when is her next allergy appointment? i would keep a record of what you want her tested for and cinnamon should be on the list.
it also may take some time for everything to clear her system. I gave my son soy once (this was when he was reacting to soy much more) and the symptoms came back and left, came back and left.. several times for about a week and a half. so it's possible it could be the cinnamon you gave her a week ago. I would just continue with a simple diet and see how she does.
Yes, Yes, and Yes. To your questions.
Most LOs take several times ingesting something before they react.
I would tell your doctor about what happened, and ask to be referred to an allergist. They are probably going to need to test your DD for food allergies. Pay attention to what she reacts to, write it down even.
Sorry, I just realized that you have already had her tested for allergies. I would def tell your doctor about what you're going through, though.
