Hi,

It's my first pregnancy and I'm strongly considering cloth diapering.  I read your post below about the Sprout Swap, which I clearly missed (didn't realize I was pregnant at that point :)), but I was hoping you could tell me more about it, like whether Sprout Soup sells only diapers they make, or other brands also; what do you think of the quality of diapers; how does the cost compare to new cloth diapers; and just how "gently" are these diapers used, in your opinion?

TIA for your response.  There is so much to consider as a new mom, but I'm actually getting pretty excited about cloth diapers. :)

Hi and congrats on your pg! I love that you are considering CD! I was overwhelmed at first that it's simple and easy, nevermind best for baby and the wallet Wink

Now, your questions; I don't think they make their own CDs but they do sell a pretty good variety of brands and types (prefold, pockets..etc.). They have lots of samples out so you can "play" with them, I found this very helpful in choosing CDs. I built my stash with mostly used diapers that I bought either at the Swap or online 1) because it's good for the environment since you are reusing and 2) the cost. Any time you buy "gently" used CD, whether is at the Swap or anywhere else you can get anything from some that look almost new to some that make you go "really?! you're selling this?!" But I haven't had any problems with my "previously loved" CDs and they are holding up just as well as the new ones. It's all about how well the previously owner cared for them.

You can also by "seconds" at some websites which meas they have a little manufacturing defect which I can't even tell the difference and they are cheaper.

The next swap is in Feb. meanwhile I suggest you sign up for their "CD 101" class offered once a month. It can be very helpful to those starting out.

Sorry this reply turned into a novel lol I love CDing and can get carried away. I'm by no means an expert but you can ask me anything anytime you want Smile.

This is a series of videos on youtube someone recommended to me and I watched them like three times in a row! GL!

Thanks for all the info, that's so helpful!!  Are there any websites that you would recommend for used cloth diapers?  I'm definitely going to check out the CD 101 class. Thanks again!

I believe I have only purchased from cottonbabies.com I might have used another but I don't remember. Here are some sites that I have lurked on. I might be wrong but I think most sites sell used diapers or at least have great offers.

    https://www.kellyscloset.com/

    https://www.abbyslane.com/

    https://www.jilliansdrawers.com/

I've seen on the CD about https://www.diaperswappers.com/ is a good place to buy used as well. HTH :)
