1st Trimester

moms of boys, come in!

i am secretly really, really hoping for a girl this time! As much as i LOVE my DS and would love for him to have little brother buddy to play with, i think a girl would be so much easier! My sister has four girls (under 5!) and they are all so well mannered and can actually sit down for a couple minutes - LOL!

TOTALLY dont care either way, but girls ARE easier, arent they??!

This. I've also heard that boys are fun and girls rule the house.

I don't have a boy so far, but I never understood this saying. I don't have to worry about every penis. I think STD's go both ways. Just saying. To the OP I have girls and they are very active. They barely sit still for anything. I think it just depends on the child. Every child is different. Anyway hope you get your girl!

  • I would like a girl this time since I am very close to my mom and would like that relationship with a daughter myself. However I must say my son is very well mannered and although he is busy he is calm and sits and cuddles us often, he loves reading and is very obedient. I think it depends in the child not necessarily the gender.

  • I agree with you Mickey!  I love my son to death but we're not sure if we want more children after this next one and it would be nice to have a girl!  Plus my DS is super active too and I'm hoping the next child will be a little easier going to give mommy a little bit of a break!  Haha!  Either way I'll be SUPER thrilled though!  I would love for our DS to have a brother to play with and be close to since my DH and his brother were best friends their entire lives!

  • My experience is that boys are more physically exhausting and girls are emotionally exhausting. But obv, all kids are different.

  • I think that boys can be more challenging during the toddler years, but girls are a whole lot harder when older. And yes, DS is a handful a lot in terms of energy level, etc., but boy the little girls of my friends have some sass and attitude! All kids are challenging and easy in their own ways.

I've never heard this--and I think it is hilarious!

I really wanted a boy with my first pregnancy and DS is just so much fun. Tiring, but fun! I'd love a girl this time around so that I can buy little dresses and bows, but I'd be very happy with another boy too.

  • oh I definitely want a little girl this time.  I have two boys, and I would LOVE to buy little dresses for my own kid instead of playing auntie to my friends daughters

It has nothing to do with STD's. With a boy you only have to worry about his penis being wrapped up and not getting a girl pregnant. With a girl you have to worry about every guy that she's ever with. And hoping their parents taught them to wrap it up.

  • I'm hoping for a girl too!

I really don't think they are well mannered any more than a boy is, because girls can be whiny and throw a beetch-fit. But damn their clothes are so freaking cute! And I want the bond that me and my mother have.

If it's another boy, I'll be just as thrilled! DS is an awesome kid. And he cracks me up everyday.

I get it. My point was that no matter the sex of the child you still worry. Whether its a boy or girl. It's like if I were to say "I only have one vagina to worry about, if I had a boy I'll have to worry about all vaginas" That's what I meant when I said STD's go both ways. And I feel that it's easier to prevent my daughter's from getting pregnant (birth control, etc) With a boy you have no control whatsoever. I hope someone understood me:)

  • We have one of each. I have to admit they totally fill the stereotypical roles. DD is the typical docile, sweet (but sometimes sassy girl), loves arts and crafts, reads books for HOURS by herself, while DS is a total maniac. I think I pulled him off the dining room table about 300 times this week alone, his new trick is to stand up and walk on it and unhook pieces of the chandelier. He is so physically active, it blows my mind. However, while I love having my mini me daughter, and all of the adorable pink clothes etc, I have to say, that my son has stolen a piece of my heart in a very unique way. You can't go wrong either way!

  • I've had several losses so I just want a healthy baby. I have boys but I also have a step-daughter. I haven't really noticed a difference between raising boys and girl with the exception of the clothes and some toys. My older DS is very well behaved and has a long attention span. I think things like that vary from child to child and I don't think one gender is easier than the other.

  • I have a boy and love it. My mom has had both, I have two other siblings. The way she puts it is that boys are harder in the beginning and easier as they get older and the girls are easier in the beginning and impossible as they get older . I'd love a little girl though.

  • I have a boy and he's a ball of energy, but I just love it. I'm going to be perfectly satisfied with whatever I get this time around. However, my DS is hoping for a little brother.

  • HA! Wait til the girl is about 7. Not so easy after that. Then they get hormones and emotional. Then they become pre-teens, get their periods and their heads start to spin and they shoot peas out of their mouths. Just about as fun as sticking hot pins in your eyeholes. I'd rather 10 boys over 1 girl any day. Seriously.
