Who's Drinkin'?

Just curious if any among us have ventured to have a little sip or two of alcohol. I've had a little wine here and there since hitting second trimester. Not much - maybe six ounces total.

Re: Who's Drinkin'?

  • I had a half glass of champagne at my SIL's wedding this past weekend. Definitely not sweating about it. It was good :)

  • Me. I limit to one glass about once a week and keep the amount to a healthy minimum. Definitely no going overboard.

  • I'm too scared to sip any alcohol.

  • The only alcohol that has made it past my lips has been mouth wash....then it's spit out.
  • I have not had any but I will surely be having a champagne toast on New Year's Eve.  And, if I am feeling daring, I may have a small glass of wine on my birthday, which is in January.

And my husband knows that when I arrive home from the hospital there best be a bottle of champagne (the good stuff) and a Jimmy John's Beach Club (no mayo, add sauce, please.)  Stat!

  • Yeah, I'm definitely keeping it to very low levels. I was drinking a glass of red wine  a night, actually under doctor recommendations - for my heart! So I didn't want to entirely give it up, but of course a full glass a night is way too much for me to feel safe. I figure one or two ounces once a week or so is okay.

    Mmmm...Jimmy John's.

  • Mmmm, champagne is my FAVORITE THING. Seriously. I made my mom a blackberry bellini this afternoon and couldn't resist a little sip. So bubbly! I'll probably have a little on my birthday and on New Year's. Possibly on my anniversary (all three of those events are within a week of each other, haha). I dunno.

One of my friends is French and she said she sees pregnant women drink wine way more often than we do here and that she's never really seen instances of FAS. She works in a hospital, so she has better info than I do! She has seen FAS but only from mothers who were definitely alcoholics or at least very heavy drinkers (she said there was a mom who drank a bottle of wine a night while pregnant!). Apparently it's pretty common in Europe to cut down on drinking but not cut it out entirely while pregnant.

  • I am, but only sips here and there.  I miss beer like nobody's business (weird because while I certainly drank beer before, I was much more of a red wine drinker than a beer drinker..) so any time DH has a beer, I always have a sip.  Same with other drinks.  I figure a sip here and there isn't going to cause problems.

My mom's doctor told her when she was pregnant with me to have a small glass of beer (just a few ounces) on nights when she was having trouble relaxing, and I turned out just fine :)  I'm not going crazy or even having one full drink by myself, but I figure a sip every once in a while is okay.

  • My 1 year wedding anniversary and my 30th Birthday are coming up, so I think I deserve a sip on those days! But that will probably be it, if even then.
  • I will have sips of MH's beer, this past weekend we celebrated our 2 year anniversary so I celebrated with half sizeof Smithwick's which is my FAVORITE beer. I only drank half about 4-5oz and then poured the rest in MH's glass. I think I'll have a small glass of wine on my bday and thanksgiving ect. I'm not worried if it's very small amounts far and few between.

  • I tried to do a wine tasting at awhile back and almost passed out.  The first taste (sip) made me think it wasn't a good idea.  The 2nd- literally second sip- made my vision go black and I got very dizzy.  It was very sad, but I'll get over it.  I'm not opposed to the occasional glass of wine, I just can't handle it right now!

  • My dr. gave me the green light and reassured me that she drank wine after her second trimester.  So I will SLOWLY sip on a 1/2 glass on rough or long day.

  • This is my 4th baby and I will have been pregnant or breastfeeding for 2 years when (s)he is born plus breastfeeding them. I have definitely had a little wine or half of a beer here and there.(with my midwifes blessing)

It's funny because I will want it so bad and then after a little I am satisfied and don't want it again for awhile

  • Ugh.  I crave a good glass of red wine, but the few sips I've had, all different wines, were DREADFUL.  Seriously hoping I get my taste for it back post baby.
We said goodbye to our baby on November 16th...

Same, I've been having little sips of DH's beverages if it is an amazing wine or yummy beer. One sip won't hurt. I may have a glass of wine or a beer here or there with food once I'm farther along in pregnancy. Have to see how I feel.

  • I had a sip of wine last night to toast a friend that passed away.  I will have a drink now and then if I feel like it.  Last pregnancy everytime I thought I wanted a drink, I would have a sip and that was enough.
