Any episiotomy victims?

I had an episiotomy with DS and I have to say that was a horrible recovery! My a-hole hurt for a week after I gave birth! lol My question is has anyone given birth to another baby after an episiotomy? Am I more likely to have another one? Is recovery going to be worse the 2nd time around? Thanks for helping ladies!

Re: Any episiotomy victims?

  • Good question! I had an episiotomy the 1st time too I hope I don't have to go through that again

  • I tore pretty badly and my recovery was much worse then friends that have had c/s. I am hopeful this time that maybe I stretched myself enough the 1st go around but in all likelyhood it will happen again and I will just deal and in a few weeks I will (hopefully) be back to normal. My Dr doesnt cut you, he prefers you tear. Crazy analogy.....its like  tee-shirt ripping, if you cut it you will tear farther and easier then if you just try to pull it apart--Nice right! Anyone else picturing this now?
  • Loving the t-shirt  analogy. I think my taint just quivered?
  • My SIL got an episiotomy with her DS and so they didnt think she would need one with her DD. Instead, she tore in 3 places. (the baby was also 10 lbs 2 oz so hopefully that won't happen to you)
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers

I just got chills down my spine.

  •  I have posted this on other boards and so far it seems as though the odds are on my side! From the answers I am getting most women seem to have an easier recovery or no episiotomy at all! SWEET! I did have a woman say she did bleed more the 2nd time around, but for the most part Ive had good news!
