Pooping in underpants?

DS is pretty much potty trained. He rarely wets his underwear unless he is distracted and having fun; but he utterly refuses to poo in the toilet. Yesterday it was twice he pooped in his pants. Today was once. I am so sick and tired of cleaning up poo. I've tried bribes, praise, telling him that everyone has accidents, blah blah blah but nothing is working. Is there some secret that I am totally missing?

we're in the boat at this point. totally PTed for pee, but continues to poop in pants. I think it just comes with time. we talk about it with her when it happens but haven't done anything more at this point. she just seems to be "scared" to poop in the toilet or doesn't physically understand how to let it go.

I could have written this exact same post!!!  I can even tell when my son is pooping because he goes off by himself and is really quiet but when I ask him if that is what he is doing & let's go on the big potty, he refuses.  I, too, have tried everything and its so frustrating.  Several of my friends told me it took until their sons were almost 4 to get the pooping thing down, oh that is sooooo far away.
