Trying to Get Pregnant

It's one of those venting posts

Today is one of those days that I just need to vent a little. We've been TTC for 5 months but have only had 3 cycles. I've had long cycles but short luteal phases. I started having period like cramps this morning and I just have a feeling AF is on her way. I was really hoping for a longer, more adjusted LP this cycle. I know I'm not out till AF shows, but I just feel discouraged. Thanks for letting me vent ladies, it's so nice having this community of support.

Re: It's one of those venting posts

  • It's one of those generic semi-empathic responses.  GL, sorry you're down, etc.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Wink  FWIW, you might try a B complex or B6 to lengthen your luteal phase.  How long have you been off BC?  Sometimes it takes a while for your period to get back on track after you stop taking it.

Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

  • Haha, good one. I will look into the B complex, thanks for the suggestion. I've been off the pill for 5.5 months.

Well, your body still might be coming back into 'normal'...

Also, most ladies on here wouldn't recommend taking straight B6 (at luteal phase treatment doses) without discussing it with your OB first.  B complex is generally accepted as fine to take without doctor supervision and women often take it as an energy/health boosting supplement.  That's what I take, because supposedly the other B vitamins help with B6 absorption... between that, acupuncture, and herbal supplements, my LP went from 10-11 days (marginal) to 12-13 days (in the normal range).

  • Thank you so much for the tips. I'll research it some more but B complex seems to have some good benefits to it. It's worth a shot :-)

  • I am so sorry. :( I know how discouraging it can be.  I just discovered last cycle (after taking a break from temping for awhile), that I have a short LP too.  I am hoping that FF was just wrong about my O date, but it is frustrating for sure.  I would talk to your Dr. about B6.  I know there can be side effects so you should use it under a Dr's supervision, but it could potentially help.  I will be doing the same thing if i have a short LP this cycle.  Feel free to PM me if you want to vent or just talk it through.

  • I have a question about B vitamin supplements. My prenatal vitamin already has B6 at the RDA level. Do you  take B vitamins in addition to your prenatals? If so, how many mg of B vitamins do you end up taking?
