Im currently on Zofran and it has worked wonders.. I take it every 6-8 hours and it does give me headaches, but id rather have a headache than vomiting all day!
i was taking zofran 4mg once per day (that's all my insurance would pay for). At first it made me feel much better, but then I was getting severe constipation and started getting headaches plus it made me even more tired than I was. so I stopped taking it the last 2 days. some days i found it very helpful, and other days I found it more of a hindrance.
Zofran was awesome for me. I don't know how I would have managed to make it through the 1st tri without it. It was the only way I could keep food down. It can cause headaches and fatigue, though neither of those were issues for me. Severe constipation was. It got to the point where I had to weigh whether I wanted to be throwing up or severely constipated. Even with tons of water, fiber and colace it still sucked. It sort of depends on how bad your nausea and vomiting are. Good luck!
I had to take zofran for the first 5 months of my pregnancy. I had really bad morning sickness. If I didn't take the zofran I would just continue to vomit all day long.
I took it twice a day.
The only real side effect I had was constipation. Make sure you take stool softener religiously when you take zofran. Also, if you can just try to keep hydrated (water) and eat a fiber bar or other forms of fiber. That said...I could only keep toast down even with zofran, so I just took stool softener and drank a lot of water and it helped to relieve that side effect.
Best of luck to you! Zofran made it possible for me to function!

Zofran is heaven sent. I took it all throughout my pregnancy. You put it under your tongue and let it dissolve. It works really fast. I was taking a 4mg or 8 mg tablet once or twice a day as needed but you can take more times a day if you need it more. It is safe to use during your pregnancy (I did not want to have to take Phenergan). I have never had any side effects with it. Greatest medicine ever. My mom is an ER doc and she prescribes this all the time for pregnant women and also thinks its a miracle drug.
I was hospitalized with hyperemesis when I was pregnant with DD. After they got me rehydrated and all that I went home with a script for zofran and took it throughout my entire pregnancy. I think I would have died without it.
I always took it in the morning (8mg), then sometimes would take 4mg throughout the day if I felt like I needed it.
I didn't really have any side effects.
and i thought i loved you then <a href="http://daisypath.com/">

I had to take it with DS#2 from week 8 to week 13. I remember the severe constipation, but it was better than throwing up. I am hoping I don't need it again this time around!

Mommy to a beautiful baby girl & 2 handsome boys!!
.
I took it every 4 hours with my first, and with my second was on a zofran pump. I had hyperemesis with both my girls. This time I take it once in the morning to keep me from puking before I can eat something and have to take care of my girls.
But it does give me constipation. The trade off is worth it, though.
