cloth vs. paper training pants

Did anyone use cloth training pants for potty training? How did it work? 

I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money to get a stash of CD training pants, or if I will even get enough use out of them to justify the price.

DD went straight from diapers to underwear.

She knew when she was in something that would hold pee (like training pants) and when she was in something that wouldn't (like underwear). If she knew it would hold pee, she treated it like a diaper, no matter how easy it was to pull up/down.

I bought one pack of disposable training pants and they were a complete waste. An entire stash of cloth training pants would have been even more of a waste.
