I don't know if maybe feeling super sick today is making me super grumpy...
But there have been about 100 NT scan posts. And I generally still comment on them and everything... but really?
"Are you getting the NT scan?" Has been asked a lot of times.
So 2nd + time moms - are there any other tests that we get to look forward to that will be discussed ad nauseam ?
/ grumpiness.
Re: I think I'm just super grumpy today (NT scan posts vent)
I agree! My one exception is when people post their u/s pics from them, those I love seeing and I think everyone deserves to have their moment to post that on here.
Can I add an NT scan vent?
It really makes me stabby when people say "I'm not getting the NT scan, it wouldn't impact what we do" or "We aren't getting it, no matter what this baby is loved" or some other crap along those lines. Ummm...I had no plans of getting an abortion (yes people, we can say that word we are adults) and I love my baby no matter what. Just because I choose to arm myself with as much knowledge as I can doesn't mean that the results would change my mind about anything or that I don't love my baby until I find out its healthy.
I'm not knocking anyone for not getting the scan, heck I almost didn't get it myself! But citing those things as reasons not to get one is kind of b/s to me.
THANK. YOU. These comments make it sound like those who choose to get the scan will drive directly to the abortion clinic if things aren't "perfect". They also don't seem to recognize the unfortunate and horrible reality that sometimes these scans reveal catastrophic issues with the baby - particularly possible if you haven't had an u/s to that point.
I cannot speak for others, but I think the "we'll deal with whatever we get" line of reasoning can get pretty thin if you find out the worst news: that your baby has passed or has a condition that will not be compatible with birth or life. For example, I had a friend who found out she'd had a missed m/c at 8w at the nuchal scan, with no prior indication anything was wrong. And there was another poster right on this board who learned her baby had no brain development. These stories are so sad, and of course rare, but they show there are many reasons to at least consider getting this test.
Sorry, I know this isn't meant to be a pro-NT scan thread necessarily, but I had to vent.
Yes, that would be the 1 hour GD test.
I just do it to see LO before 20 weeks.
That sounded like an awesome idea, until about 5 minutes ago when I ended up reading about the scariest epidural experience and in-law nightmare that some poor mommy just had.
Ok.
1. I hate conflict.
2. The bump message board is HUGE. It is not always easy to keep up with all the posts. And if there is a search feature for threads, I have yet to find it.
3. We are all pregnant women with many questions, and we should NEVER be afraid to ask. No matter how absurd.
4. If the thread title doesn't interest you, don't read it. Let it be.
The GD test is generally given between the 24th and 28th week.
1. I don't think anyone is saying the questions that are being asked are "absurd", I think we are just saying that they have been posted a lot.
2. Google works as well, you can type in "NT scan The Bump" and I'm sure tons will come up. I haven't tried it, but I'm willing to bet it would work.
3. The same "if it doesn't interest you, don't read it" could be said about this thread as well. If people disagree then thats totally fine, but if the thread irks you, you can choose to move past it.
I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm just trying to point out that Allie has a much of a right to post that she's sick of NT posts as you do to post the 100th NT scan post. It does go both ways. All of that being said, I'm sure no one if going to get flamed for posting something about an NT scan on here. We all get along pretty well and I'm sure it will stay that way.
Naw, you're right. I should rephrase my post.
It would be nice if the Bump had a thread search feature.
And, yes, I did post an NT question because I wondered how many ladies have had the NT, and how necessary everyone felt it was. The girls were wonderful and most helpful! I only hope I can be as helpful in the future!
Just wait until the umpteeth baby names post. Or "what are you registering for?". Or baby shower silliness. God forbid there is a recall of a well-known/used item, because the board will talk about nothing but for weeks, and then it will die down, and then a random will come on a month later all "OMG did you hear about this PRODUCT RECALL, I know this MAY have been discussed but if this post keeps ONE MORE BABY SAFE it's worth it!!!!!!!!!11"

There are definitely a lot of repeat topics on here (and I would by lying if I said sometimes I havent been slightly annoyed by a few -- like I just dont get the 3pm Sexy Man post...LOL). But it could just be that the person who is asking is new to the board or that they never read any of the prior posts on the subjects etc. I think since we are all pregnant and emotional we can sometimes have strong comments or feelings about some of the posts we see (and some tend to be a bit over snarky when responding sometimes). Just today I was blasted by a few for posting the same post on this board and another post. I found it comical only because we all are free to post whatever is on our mind at that moment. I'm not calling you out or anything (because I think your grumpiness is a normal pregnancy symptom)...but just observing how we all can be a little sensitive during this crazy hormonol time.

Oh hon, there's nothing to get. It's just wonderful eye candy!
haha So sorry, I dunno what to tell you, it works fine with me. I put NT scan in and it kicked back a bunch of recent threads.
No offence but I have felt this way from the beginning. Everything was the same damn post reworded a 100 times! I hope it gets better

i was actually against the scan because i didn't care (not that i don't care about baby but because it won't matter to me and i didn't wanna do any blood test or be poked or whatever i imagined.) but i didn't think OMG you horrible mothers to be how dare you take that test. i said no to my nurse and she said well you want to be prepared and i was like ugh whatever but then i found out i get a free u/s so that was the kicker for me.
100% in agreement. Those posts drive me nutty. Getting a NT test does not mean I am looking to change my mind about loving or not loving this baby.
