Gender pee stick test...any cons?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about doing the gender pee stick test they sell in the pharmacies... are you aware of any "cons" or reasons not to do it?

I imagine it is not as accurate as the 20 week u/s, but was curious if there was anything else I should know about it or negative experiences any of you had?

The only negative I can imagine is giving you false information... From what I have heard they are about as accurate as just guessing.

My cousin was actually just telling me that she did this with 3 of her pregnancies and it was right all three times... but in reality, the test has a 50/50 outcome. The one at CVS is about $40 although I saw it on Amazon for $25. There are a lot of negative reviews from people who said the test was wrong.

I personally wouldn't put any stock in it (i.e. - decorate the nursery), but it would be fun to see if the test was accurate.

This. It's only accurate half the time- same as a guess! Save the cash for something else.

Well, it's 50/50 for being correct, right? I guess if it's less than $5, I'd probably get it just to pee on it and see if it's right AFTER I know the sex from the doctor's office.

Save your money. Your baby is a boy.

My guess on the sex of your baby is the same accuracy as that test :-)

It think it's more for fun that actually finding out the gender.

Hi I was on here looking for someone and saw ur post.. just thought I would let u know its a waste of money. I bought one and it said it was a girl and Im having a boy!!! Also my husband researched about those and its of course only 49% right so its just a guess. They are fun to take but dont take it seriously!
