I think that it may actually work, our biggest problem with Fenton is that he is a very active baby and hates to be in one position for a long period of time.
Driving after his bedtime might actually work, I talked to DH and he agreed that if we do that we will drive straight through and stop at a hotel in the area. Fenton usually goes to bed at 8pm so by the time he wakes up for his nightly feeding we will be to our destination.
Anyways I just wanted to say thanks!
Re: howleyshell.....thanks for the suggestion.....
Sure!
I really wanted to go see a relative dying of cancer when I was out visiting my mom. Problem was that she lived 5 hours away from my mom.
After much deliberation we decided overnight driving was the best way to go.
We took turns driving and at one point in time I was even hovered over his car seat with my boob in his mouth so we didn't have to take him out of the car seat (or worse....have to get him back in). Not the safest for me but it worked. Looking back on it I have to laugh about it all.... Imagine what a passing trucker would have thought if he could have seen inside the car!
It went so well that we decided to turn around and come back the very next night instead of waiting until the next day.
Crazy trip but he did AWESOME. He didn't miss a beat with his schedule. And frankly - after newborn levels of tired the drive didn't phase me much either!
GL to you! I hope all goes well and you're able to enjoy your holiday.
