NBR: First Anniversary Gift

Hey all!  Our first anniversary is coming up in 2 weeks and we aren't planning on doing a big gift exchange or anything since we're trying to save for baby and what not.  I'm trying to think of an inexpensive gift that my husband will actually appreciate.  Any thoughts or ideas would be great!

Re: NBR: First Anniversary Gift

  • Our first anniversary just past, and we had te same plan as you. We had an upgrade on our cell phone plan so I was able to upgrade his phone for a reasonable price. Is there a sports team he likes? Maybe you could get tickets to his favorite team. The cheap seats might not be very expensive, and he would still love it.

  • For our first we wanted to do the traditional wedding cake freeze, but we couldn't save the top of our cake because it wouldn't keep in the freezer for a year.  For the day, I replicated the top of the cake.  It was great, easy and delicious!

This year, for our second anniversary two weeks ago we went to the State Fair!!!  Not the most romantic, but we had fun, spent time together and ate some junk food because I was finally feeling better.

    Both are cheap and sweet.

  • Our anniversary is in a month. I'll probably just cook an amazing dinner.

  • First anniversary theme is "paper."  We too didn't want to do lavish gifts.  However, we did go away for a long weekend and I gave him a card.  Hence the paper theme.

  • Our anniversary is right after Christmas so we normally don't have much money. We follow the "traditional" wedding gifts each year. The first anniversary is suppose to be paper. You could make him a photobook or something like that.

  • Thank you all!  I know we're going to dinner and I'm sure I'll get him a card... now I'm thinking I might put a promise in there for Brewers playoff tickets (in hopes that we'll actually make it!).  We're both avid sports fans and have a couple more Brewers games and a Packers game coming up, but playoff tickets would really sweeten the deal. Plus... it's paper!  I'm thinking if we even get crappy tickets it would still be really fun to go!

  • Our first anniversary was a bust.  We didn't have much money and DH forgot to pay the electric bill.  Our electricity was shut off and we had to use our anniversary dinner money to get it turned back on.  We did save the top of our cake though and the frosting was still delicious but the actual cake was stale.

This year we are heading to Myrtle Beach for a week to see our friends. (We used to live there)  Can't wait to leave tonight.

I agree with a pp about a scrap book or even just a card and dinner.  Something special just for you and DH.  I am terrible at trying  to get gifts for DH. He is hard to buy for!

    I love this story!
