Cloth Diapering

I'm interested in CDing. A couple ?s...

I still have time to think about it, but I'm planning on using BG diapers on my next LO.  I understand they don't fit newborns very well.  Is there another brand or something similar to BG that works for newborns?

I was also wondering can you fit onesies over BGs or are they too bulky?

Re: I'm interested in CDing. A couple ?s...

  • I ordered a couple of different brands BG and Grovia are my fav. I have read that neither fit NB very well, most moms agree that they fit best between 10-13lbs depending on the build of your baby. My plan is to use disposables for the first couple of weeks. This is my first and I cannot afford to buy a whole set of NB sized CD's.
  • I used prefolds with covers, along with sposies, until LO fit into her BG 4.0s at about 1 month. I generally buy one size up for onesies.

  • There are sized diapers that fit nbs. Look around and see what looks good to you.

Yes, you can fit onesies over CDs.

Check out the FAQs at the top of the board. It even has a spreadsheet with brand reviews.

  • One-size diapers didn't work for us until 7 weeks.

You either buy some XS sized stuff, or you wait to use cloth until baby grows into them. It's easy to find newborn stuff (barely) used and also easy to resell.

  • Totsbots easy fit are slimmer than BG if you are concerned about the bulk. They just came out with a newborn size of the totsbots which are 5-12lbs. The easy fit are onesize with snaps to adjust the rise. I have no experience yet, but these are the diapers I got based on recommendations from many friends. :) HTH.
