I'm putting my daughter in daycare on Monday, and I'm thinking that they may get frustrated with the cloth diapers because it's difficult to determine if they're wet. When I check the diaper to see if it's wet/soiled, I put my finger in it. I know the daycare uses gloves so they won't be able to feel the wetness. Many disposables have the wet line system in which a blue line appears on the front of the diaper when it's wet. Is there anything like that for cloth diapers? Is there some sort of disposable liner that will change colors when it's wet?
Re: how can you tell they're wet?
The only disposables that have the blue line are the newborn ones in the hospital. After that, it's just a guess, even in disposables.
For me, I check the "squish" by squishing the front. If it gives, she's dry, if it's hard, she's wet.
They'll figure it out.
When I used to work in a day care every body got checked and changed every 2 hours regardless. Sometimes even in the disposables its hard to tell if they pee when they are tiny and don't have the newborn diapers with the line. As long as they change LO frequently then they'll be fine.
