Well, we were hoping our old big screen would hang on til Black Friday but its dead. We're going to get a new one but I have no idea what to do with the old one now that it doesn't work. Anyone know? TIA!
You can try giving it away for free on Craigslist. I'm sure someone would come pick it up with the hopes of being able to fix it, use it for parts, or repurposing it. I'd try that before bothering to haul it somewhere yourself.
I like the pp suggestion about listing it for free on Craigslist.
Our local dump (or whatever they call them now...transfer station?) has an area specifically for electronics. Yours might as well (I live in a small town, so I would suspect that it does).

Re: NMR: Where/how to dispose of broken big screen TV?
Try your Best Buy store - they take some TVs not sure exactly what you have

I just turned in several old computers and accessories - so nice to get it out of the house!
