Hearing HB at 5 1/2 weeks?

My friend had to go to the ER for some spotting at 5 1/2 weeks, and she said she could hear the HB then. That sounds super early. What do you think? Anyone else out there hear a heart beat that early?

My sister was 5 weeks and something and she did with both of hers. I thought she was nutso but her husband confirmed it. Vaginal u/s there was a flicker.

I don't think you can hear the HB but you can see it via u/s.

This.  5 1/2 weeks is very very early to hear it.  Most women can't until after 10 weeks.

They can sometimes measure a flicker for the HB on a vaginal u/s that early.  With the right equiptment, they might be able to hear it as well on the u/s.

We heard the hearbeat at 5 and half weeks but it was very very faint. I am 6 weeks one day and heard again today and it was much stronger.

We heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks.  I bet some people can hear it at 51/2 weeks or at least see it on the monitor.

This.  I was 6w1d and with a vaginal u/s we saw and heard the heartbeat.  5 1/2 weeks is possible but if you don't hear it, I wouldn't worry.

I saw the heartbeat/flicker at 5w3d but didn't hear it...hoping to hear it this week!

This. Hearing is when they use the doppler on the outside. Seeing is when they do an ultrasound and see it. Yes, you "hear" the thump, thump on the u/s machine speakers (or whatever the technology is), but it's not actually "hearing" it, it's seeing it.

This is exactly what I thought, but I didn't want to say anything!

My sister in law heard hers at 5.5 weeks at her doctors office.

they can see a heart beat via transvaginal ultrasound that early and by using the doppler mode on that ultrasound, you can hear the heart beat.

I was 5 1/2 weeks when I had my first ultra sound, and we saw the heartbeat but did not hear it.  It was very obvious though you could see the little flicker on the screen...I also had a transvaginal ultra sound too.
