Trying to Get Pregnant

Referred to Fertility Specialist

14 Cycles later still no pregnancy:(  Trying to keep positive!  haha.  I go for blood work on day 21 to check my progesterone levels, currently I am on cycle day 9.  Anyone visit a specialist?  What should I expect on my first visit?  I will be going at the end of the month.

TIA!

  • My first visit was a sit down with the doc to discuss my medical history, husband's medical history & our course of action.  She started with b/w for me, a SA for my husband & an u/s.  Depending on what they find, they'll start you on a protocol to help increase your chances!  If they have a website, start there.  Sometimes you'll find all the paperwork you need to fill out, saving you some time at the appt!

    Good Luck!

  • Don't keep putting it off!  I went to a RE last month and it went really well.  We had already had several tests done (HSG, SA, B/W) so we were a little ahead.  The appointment consisted of meeting with the dr for about 30 minutes and then he did an ultra sound on me to see what was going on up there.  He did some additional b/w and we decided on a plan.  The plan was pushed back a month due to a death in my family and being out of town when I started.  It's a relief knowing what is going on with my body and that we have a plan of action.

For the OP, I was able to fill out all the paperwork before hand.  That saved us some time at the dr in the beginning.  Definitely see if they have a website because there will be a lot of great information there.

  • do you chart?  track O?   you really need that bloodwork done at 7dpo.   You may not O on CD14.

CD21 b/w would have done nothing for me since I O'd usually between CD22-24

  • One thing that surprised me was that I thought I was going to have an ultrasound  like you typically think of  with the wand/scanner thing going over your belly with a nice warm gel to help it glide. I wish someone had told me that it would be a vaginal ultrasound. Don't freak out though it's not nearly as bad as it looks. that long wand does NOT go very far at all up your vag at all. Just be curteous & wax/shave before had. I didn't b/c I dodn't know that I'd be showing my lady bits off. Embarrassed

Here's the wand & no that's not me - I got the picture off the web.
