Two friends announced unwanted pregnancies this week

One is a 21 yr old who just broke up with her bf and is having an abortion on Friday.

One is closer to my age, has an older daughter who she does not have custody of, and is with a random bf she met like 4 mo ago. She is keeping it.

I'm struggling with them more than I should be. I don't know what to say to the first one. I'm pro-choice, but I've been 19 and knocked up and scared to death, and made a different choice. I support her legal right to do it, but I sure wish she wouldn't. She just says that she wants "this thing" out of her.

Sigh.

I'm so sorry - it's so difficult to see unwanted pregnancies when you've tried so hard to have yours. I would just gently encourage you to understand that they are in a different place in their lives. One where a child, or even a pregnancy wouldn't fit in. And they'll have their opportunity to want a child when it's the right time for them.

Oh, I'm pro-choice too, but that would tear me up.  Both situations are rough to hear about.  Many hugs!!!

I'm pro-choice, too, but I'd still have a hard time hearing about either one of those situations.  It always makes me wonder who's been irresponsible about birth control.
