From day one (2 years ago) I have never had anything but positive things to say about our agency, I love them and our SWers and it's been a fabulous experience, even through the failed matches, they have totally supported us and our birth moms we have been matched with.
However I "like" them on facebook so I get their status updates and whatnot. Well today they posted a title that was linked to something on their site and it said this:
"I can't decide if I want a baby: I don't want my baby: Is adoption best for you"
Several people made comments (mostly bmoms who had used them) as well as myself, posting the offensiveness of the wording, and they posted an apology saying they would change it. but what the heck?! Why in the world would an agency NOT know that those are HORRIBLE ways to reach a birth mother?
I just keep thinking who works there that wouldn't know that isn't ok language.
I am glad they recognized right away and plan to change it but still... made me really disappointed.
Re: pretty disappointed in our agency
That would have really bothered me too.
You'd think they know better, and I'm glad that people brought it to their attention. Negative adoption language is hard to hear, but when it comes from a social worker or an agency, it gives me a stomach ache. Oy.
