We just bought a new house and I realized when we were moving in the the fireplace is ingeniously flush with the floor- permanenly baby-proofed. Brilliant. Although that makes the fireplace doors baby-accessible. Seems we will not be using the fireplace when DD is downstairs.
We taped those foam floor thingies to our fire place. you know the interlocking foam mats?
Yea, we are SO chic and trendy.
ahem.
Actually that's genius. We've been trying to decide how to child proof the fireplace. These seems much better than blankets and towels because I know my little shitdisturber will just rip the blankets off and throw them on the floor.

Ha. We put the foam strips across the edges of the brick. But that doesn't stop her from trying to impale herself on the wood burning stove.
I fear we won't be using it for warmth this winter, which sucks. It really keeps our house nice and warm!
