New to "The Bump" - trying D-IUI

Good Morning Everyone, : )

I'm new to "the Bump". Well sort of new. I'm back again after a 2-3 year hiatus and wanted to introduce myself again. DH and I have been together 10 years. We married 4 years ago. This is DH's second marriage. He has custody of his 2 boys. Which made me an instant mom.

DH knew I wanted a child of my own so we have been TTC for 5-6 years now. I've lost count. No luck as of yet. It's been a roller coaster. First there was trying without any assistance. Then a couple tries with IUI. The doctor advised us we should consider IVF. So we continued to try unassisted while we saved a little money as it is only partially covered by benefits. Then we hit a standstill for over a year. DH had decided he didn't want to try any more. I went through every emotion that year. Then, what seemed like out of the blue DH changed his mind again. So it was back to the drawing board. We were told to try IUI again as all the tests that needed to be done to see where we were at were included, it was cheaper then IVF or just doing the tests on their own and at the same time there was a possibility it could work. Unfortunately, things had totally changed. : (

This is where my new journey begins. We have been told that DH has a 0 count. Not really sure how to word that. We were given 2 options. The first was extraction with ICSI or donor insemination with IUI. Due to cost and since DH did not want the surgery we have choosen option 2.

Hopefully we will be able to make our selection of the 100's of choices in the next few weeks and try on my next cycle.

In the mean time it's great to know there's a place I can come to help with the challenges of TTC. I'd like to thank you all in advance for sharing your questions and comments.

Let the journey begin.

  • I'm sorry you need to be here, but welcome to the board.  Azoospermia can be a hard diagnosis - I know my husband took it really hard.  The board has been an AMAZING support system for me, so I hope you stick around.

There's a weekly "azoo check-in" on Wednesday night / Thursday morning.  If you scroll back a bit, you'll see the one from last week - and that these woman are approaching their diagnosis in a variety of different ways (i.e. IVF/ICS, D-IUI, adoption, etc.)

Best of luck in your journey - I hope your stay here is short!
