When are you (did you) starting solids with your LO? One of my boys is already on rice for reflux, but I'm not talking about cereal. Really I'm asking about fruits and veggies.
I know that AAP recommends milk/formula only until 6 months, but everything else says you can start solids as early as 4 months.
My boys are about to be 6 months old and our pedi says for feeding she doesn't put a lot of focus on acutal v. adjusted age and gave us the go ahead for solids once they reach 6 months.
I'm anxious to start them because H is not a good eater. His BPD makes it difficult to suck/swallow/breath. He's gained 12 oz in the month since he was discharged from the NICU. His speech therapist said most BPD kids do better with solids because they can control the rate at which they enter. I'm hoping that I can start solids and then incorporate olive oil and protein powder into his purees to boost the calories.
Just curious about your plans.
Re: Starting solids?
We started just playing around 5 mths, (with cereal and then adding fruits, veggies). I took it slowly and just took their cues. At six months we are still only doing one a day and working on adding s second in the next few weeks.
A (my tubie girl) actually LOVES solids, but isn't all that interest in bottles...we are trying a sippy cup now.
In your case I'd be all over it. I bet he'll do great on solids.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
