How do you stay motivated?

I am scared Im gonna get really fat with this pregnancy. Thus far I am on par with where I was with my first. But with him I was really careful about everything and I gained slower then I am now. Now that I know what t expect I fee like I give in to every craving! DH is a horrible motivator. I told him I wanted to start being really careful today and he served me two hostess cupcakes after dinner for desert. He put them on our fancy china to try and be cute. I always feel bad turning him down when he does stuff like that. Plus he is not pregnant so why should he suffer? I think it really hit me today when I caught sight of one o my christmas dishes and realized I am going to be pregnant all the way through the holidays! I got a prenatal pilates video but I have yet to use it...Im aways too tired when I get home from work or my running around for the day.

Any suggestions on how to get my butt outta this funk and stay motivated?

Re: How do you stay motivated?

  • I look at old fat pictures of myself and that is PERFECT motivation for me!! LOL. But unless you've been really heavy that won't be an option for you.  Unless there's some sort of website online that can digitally add lbs to a picture of you- i'm sure it's possible!  But really, my motivation is just to remember that being pregnant isn't an excuse to be flippant about my eating/exercise habits.  In fact it'll do my LO good if I can take care of myself, more now than ever!

Not saying it's easy.... I struggle, but old pics of myself really help keep me on track!

  • Ugh, CURRENT pics help keep me motivated - I feel like my arms look like chubby transplanted thighs!  Seriously, I think my biggest motivation is all the stories I've heard, including my own mom's, about how much easier labor is for women who stay in shape/stay active through their pregnancy.  I'm not doing anything crazy, but I'm doing yoga once a week, trying to walk the dog regularly, and swimming laps when I can - and then, when I keep up my activity level, I don't feel too bad about indulging a little.

  • I completely understand having no motivation.  First I was too tired and then I got a really bad cold, and work for summer is always brutal busy.  I finally used my prenatal workout this evening for the first time since I was like 8 weeks.  Maybe I just found some motivation but I topped the workout off with a bowl of ice cream.
