infertility venting

Hey everyone,

 Just venting here. I am having trouble at work with my employers...they do not understand the process of infertility testing. I am scheduled for my first IVF in a few weeks, and I have had lots of Drs appts. I have been almost harassed at work because of this! I try to explain everything, but I get eye rolls and text messages saying I should reschedule my tests because they need me at work. I have so much to worry about and now I am feeling even worse :(  I wish these people would understand the pain and emotions of dealing with infertility!!!!! I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

    I'm sorry.  I know this is frustrating.  Do you have sick time you can use?  They really don't need an explanation.  By law, I don't think they are allowed to ask.  I think they have to let you be out if you have a medical procedure you have to have done.  Thankfully, my boss was great about letting me the time off.  Good luck with everything.

    I'm so sorry you have to deal with that.  What they're doing seems illegal.  You might want to contact a disability lawyer or something.  Obviously, I don't think of infertility as a disability, but I think that that might be the umbrella it falls under.  You definitely don't need the stress.

    Do you employers know you are going through all this for IVF?  You can contact your HR rep and tell them that you feel like you are being harrassed. You don't have to disclose what type of Dr appts you are going for, but you can always bring in a Dr note for each of your appointments, just to cover your back. 

    Don't let them get to you. There are laws out there to protect you.  IVF is stressful enough, you don't need anyone adding to it!

    1/11 - IVF with PGD - BFN

    6/11 New RE - fingers crossed!
    9/11 - IVF - 4 transferred
    10/13 - BFP!!

    Thanks guys :)

    I am really upset about this...I was crying all day. It is so stressful and it doesnt help to have people make comments. The only thing I want to concentrate on is having a family.

    ((hugs)) sorry that you have to deal with this on top of all of the other IF stress!

    April 2013 DE IVF= BFN

    September 2013 DE IVF (Fingers Crossed) = BFFFN! again...

    October 2013 FET of our last 2 = Beta Hellzz for 6-7 Weeks. M/C
