I drove myself and went to work afterwards. It was a bit painful during but I was totally fine once they got out of my ute. I hear it is worse if your tubes are blocked.

You should be fine. If you have a pantyliner that you generally use bring it. The one's the hospital offered me were enormous and I didn't realize that I would leak dye afterwards. For me it wasn't painful just like a VERY long PAP, very uncomfortable for me but I wouldn't say painful. I didn't have a blockage and McIrish is right the word out there is that if you have a blockage it can be painful. Any pain should subside once the procedure is finished though, so you should be fin to drive etc.

I am planning on being driven to and from mine. One is because I am a spoiled brat and I don't want to go alone. The second is a really good reason. I have an allergy to oysters. I have to have benedryl before the HSG and it makes me very sleepy. The RE is making me go to the hospital to do it rather than their lab since I have airway issues when I eat seafood . It would be so much more convenient to do it at the RE's office.
I had no trouble driving both ways, my husband is blind and does not drive. Although, where I had my HSG done-they wanted to make sure that you were not leaving alone though.

It's not bad - during you feel a little crampy but after you should be fine. And, they did think I had a blockage (though not 100% sure since sometimes there can be a 'spasm' during that mimics a blockage). The nurse in my OBGYN's office had told me to take a few advil about an hour before and to have someone drive me home. But, when I got there (it was done at the hospital) they said that was complete overkill, and they were right. I was completely fine after, though it was nice to have my DH there.
Also I should note 2 things: 1. I have a really low pain tolerance, and it was fine and 2. though I don't know if there is any scientific documentation, the tech doing the procedure told me sometimes having the HSG 'clears you out' and women get pregnant the next month. In my case, she was right. It sadly ended in a m/c, but I do wonder if there was a connection between the HSG test and the BFP. Good luck to you!

I drove both ways as well...and was fine. I would highly recommend taking at least 4 advil pre HSG. There is definitely cramping...and I did my sonohystogram the day before with only 2 advil in mean and it was kind of unpleasant. The 4 advil helped a bit more.
