It is pronounced like Melody without the M. It is a French name that my husband really liked from when he lived in France. Although they do pronounce it differently. We would probably call her Elle, Ella, or Ellie for short.
I know a little Elodie...it's a cute name but I dislike Ella as a nn, it's so popular. Part of the appeal of Elodie is that it's uncommon, so it just doesn't make sense to me to name a child an uncommon name and call her a common nn. Name her Elodie, call her Elodie.

Completely gorgeous. I agree not to use a NN though. It would've been on my list but the thought of her having to say "no, not Melody" her whole life steered me away.

This was my favorite name for a while. It made it to our top three, then was booted because of the amount of people going, "Huh?" when we told them the name. They thought we were saying Melody or Ella-nee.
That's just us. Obviously, I think it is a very pretty name and I love Elle and Ellie for nicknames. Popularity doesn't bother me.
I love the name Elodie (unfortunately, SO vetoed it for our LO . . . grrr). I think it's such a great name on its own that it doesn't need a nickname, but in any and either case, it is gorgeous.

Me too! But I think it's a cute name, as long as you just call her Elodie.
