rec your baby gate, please

We need to block off our stairs.

Does anyone have any recommendations?  any advice?

Also, has anyone covered up the edges of their fireplace?

I feel like I can't actually recommend this because we haven't even installed it yet, but we got it because we can install it without drilling into our banisters.

We have this one that we use to keep Gabe in our family room, and this one to keep him in our gameroom upstairs.  I believe they make one for the top of the stairs that has a little space where you can stand while you open the gate. 

We actually don't have one at the top of the stairs because Gabe has always been good about waiting for us before going up or down.  We do have a cheapie wooden one that we use farther down the hallway when we want to corral him upstairs with us in the morning.  That way he has free range of our bedroom, his room and Isaac's room, but he can't get to the stairs.
