should wool smell?

I just received a pair of jersey wool longies i ordered...my first wool. Yay!

I rinsed them out and laid flat to dry, but they smell horrible. Is that normal? Should I was them in something? I have Sudz & Duds wash on the way.

Thanks!

Re: should wool smell?

  • You can try washing them with baby wash or wool wash but it may just be the type of wool. If it's the latter, they should smell better when they're dry.

  • I don't remember smelling them when they were dry, so that's probably it.

    Thanks!

  • My dryer balls that I made smelt horrible also. After a couple of washes the smell started to go away.

  • What PPs said. Mine always has kind of a cow pasture kind of smell when they are wet. Gone by the time they are dry. I also use scented lanolin to help with that.
