Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Lurker posting for the first time! Re: adenoid removal

Hello ladies! I'm shedding the bonds of lurkdom with a question about ear tubes and adenoids. My son had surgery last Thursday to insert ear tubes and have his adenoids removed after having a continous ear infection for over two months that wasn't responding to antibiotics. I was wondering if any of your babies have had this surgery and what their recovery was like, specifically, did they have alot of nasal and/or ear drainage, how many days did they need pain medication, were they congested for a while, etc. Thanks so much!

  • I can't speak for the adenoids, but DD had tubes at 8 months.  We took her home, she slept for 4 hours, and that was it.  No drainage, congestion, etc. (Dr. drained the liquid in her ears during the tube insertion).  Her infection had cleared up prior to the surgery, but there was still liquid in the ears.  We are very happy DD had the surgery!!
