Seriously why cant you leash your dog?!??!

so for the past 2 weeks I have gotten back into taking my dog for a walk everyday- i  feel so bad we havent been on a routine with walking cause she gets SO freakin excited when I get the leash out!!!

so today having a great walk- so warm out and my STUPID neighbors have 2 dogs just out on their front lawn with no leash- oh and what happend when i walk by with my leashed dog- they charge me!!! so my dog starts going nuts- and theyre going nuts- and im just yelling! Thank god their ower was near by to come get the, before a fight broke out.....

But SERIOUSLY why dont you have your dogs leashed or in a fenced in yard??!?!!?

like what if i fell? what if was way more pregnant and fell??? people suck! thanks for letting me vent!

  • When I took my daughter to back to school night a few weeks ago, this old man was walking his dogs and neither one was on a leash, so of course they come up running to the kids.... Well one of them had this green crusty crap all over it's ears (seriously disgusting looking) and the other one kept trying to bother me (I was sitting down) and then sneezed in my face. THEN the stupid old man tried getting all huffy about the kids messing with his dogs... Put them on a freaking leash then! Geez...

  • Same thing happened to me the other day while walking my dog.  Their dog came running out of their yard, they left the gate open and charged me and my dog.  He was growling at my dog, luckily my dog is too friendly with other dogs and did not show aggression back...at that point.  I tried to grab his collar, because we live on a fairly busy street and he growled and barked at me, which my dog in turn growled.  So I stepped between them and shooed the dog away.  It just makes me so made because if my dog were to have bitten their dog when it growled and barked at me it would have been my fault somehow because my dog is a "bully" breed.

  • This ALWAYS peeves me off.   Last week my aunt was walking and 2 boxers charged her.  Her dog (german shepard) refused to fight, but then the dogs got all tangled and knocked her down.  Then, her dog fought back. He ended up torn up and my aunt has a broken leg. Seriously people, these laws are in place for a reason.
  • Ugh!! I agree! I have two black labs- one is 65 lbs and the other is 100lbs.  They are harmless, but we leash them every time we take them out of the house.  It drives me nuts when other dogs come running up at us.  I trained mine to stay by my side and ignore other dogs, but if they are charging at us, I can't be responsible for what my big dogs are going to do.  Love my dogs, believe all dogs should be on leashes!

  • There is a house on my walk route (with DS in a stroller) that has three big dogs that always come out and bark.  I throw rocks at them (not to hit them) and yell at them to go home.  They know me now and don't come out as far or chase me, but still LEASH YOUR DAMN DOGS!

  • Ever since finding out I was pregnant I have been walking more instead of a more intense workout. In the span of a week, I was approached by 3 different dogs. It is so frustrating! I don't get why people let them run wild.

  • I hate that!! One time a few years ago- I was walking my two Cockers and a huge Pitbull bolted towards us and made a bee- line towards my dogs. I saw itcoming and got in front of my dogs and started screaming at the dog as she ran up. She still got around me and was attacking my dogs- so I started kicking as hard as I could and screaming. The owner finally ran up and grabbed the dog and got her off of mine. I was so pissed!!! Luckily the stupid dog didn't actually break skin!!!

  • Yup.  I have neighbors like that.  I usually don't mind that dogs are not leashed as long as their owners are nearby and pick up after them.  My neighbors however just open their front door and let their dogs run free.  I've caught their dogs pooping in my yard and the yard across the streets while they are inside their house oblivious.  It's very annoying and inconsiderate.  Before we got our fence up, they used to hang out in our backyard.  I really hate irresponsible dog owners.

I have a pittie too! and thats the thing even if 2 dogs attacked us- and my dog was protecting me- i would get sh*t for it cause i have a pitbull- AHHHHHHHHHHH makes me so angry.

  • ANd I LOVE when the dog charging us- has the owner running behind "oh dont worry my dog is friendly" oh thats great lady- but once my dog (who goes to doggie daycare and loves dogs too) see's a 130 pound dog charing ME- she will protect me and probably get into a fight with your "friendly" dog!

  • Lurking...................

This is a total pet peeve of mine. I have a german shepherd who I always walk on a leash. Mutiple times, I have had off-leash dogs with no owners in sight follow us for blocks (and my german shepherd truthfully is not that friendly towards strange dogs). But the time that pissed me off the most was when a tiny dog came running at us barking and growling, completely getting my dog worked up, as I pulled him to the other side of the street. The little dog followed us over there, and the owner was in his driveway and didn't do anything until I yelled to him, "Um, you might want to get your dog!" Seriously, if his stupid little dog had gotten eaten by my german shepherd, it was totally the other owner's fault! Leash your dog, if for no other reason, than their own safety!

  • I agree - if your dog is not well behaved leash him. It even drives me nuts when people have dogs in fenced in yards that won't shut the hell up, gawd.

We walk ours off leash but he is very well trained and heels on command. However if we see another dog approach we will leash him as other dogs tend to be not so well behaved.

One time we took him to this beach where people often bring dogs, and they play together. I saw another dog so I let him off the leash to go play in the water and the other dog runs up and attacks our poor fella! He didn't know what to do and just sort of stood there being attacked with a helpless look in his eyes, he has zero aggression and will not fight no matter what.  And then this GUY is like, oh I don't know what's up, your dog must have bothered him or something... WTF! Dude, if your dog cannot behave then you do NOT take that dog off the leash in public, EVER. He was trying to bite my dogs ear off.
