Petty in-law rant

I posted yesterday on FB that we are going to find out the sex in a few weeks and that DH, Lily and I all feel that it is a boy. 

My MIL responded by listing all the people in their families who are older sisters and saying that maybe Lily is right.  Then DHs aunt jumped in talking about previous generations who also were older sisters.

None of them acknowledged that I (the MOM) am an older sister.  Oh no, it is all about their families influence.  I also love how they ignored the fact that DH is their first born and an only child.  LOL

::sigh:: I know that the order of the sex of my children are not determined by genetics, so this really shouldn't bother me.  That is why I said this was a petty vent.

The in-laws just never want to give us credit for anything! When Ryan was born they were all trying to comment on who he looked like... not including me or anyone I'm related to!

I would probably be petty enough to make sarcastic comments back. 

Actually I do with my own in-laws.  I like to say things like "oh, you think he gets his (insert good trait) from great great uncle Floyd?  I bet that's also where he got his affection for (insert bad behavior).

DH's uncle had a baby with his wife a few years ago. Their son looks EXACTLY like his mother, but my ILs won't stop saying how much he looks like the dad. It drives me crazy because even though he does have some of his dad's features, he's pretty much a spitting image of his mom, but they won't admit it because she's not the one they're related to.

I have a feeling that no matter how much this baby looks like me, they won't be able to see it.

My MIL is the same way - it's all about her. The day she asked (in a crazy voice no less) - "How's my baby!!!!" and started rubbing my belly, I decided that this is going to be a long 5ish months! Sometimes, there just is no changing them.

 O and I love how they are obsessed with their families genetics - when the dr is more concerned about the mom's genetics b/c I guess baby is more likely to inherit our stuff. But if she's anything like my MIL - she will have a reason to tell you how that dr. is wrong...

Lol!  My FIL did this. Kept saying "E looks just like me as a baby."  I asked for pictures because I was curious (and didn't believe him).  All family pictures from when FIL was growing up were lost in a house fire when he was in grade school.  Funny how you think E's a dead ringer for you when you couldn't possibly know what you looked like as a baby.

For the record, E looks EXACTLY like my dad.  It's kinda creepy.  Everyone comments on it.  Oh, and I'm adopted so E shares no genetics with my dad

I like to mention that to FIL from time to time and love it when my friends comment on my FB photos of E and my dad.  Yeah, I'm catty like that!
