Anyone convert their Lifetime crib to full size?

We are going to do this for DD really soon and I just wondered before I break all the stuff out of the box what I need to buy.  Just the standard full size mattress and boxspring?  And, was it pretty easy to put together?

We have a Munire Essex crib if that matters.

  • We're doing the same soon, I look forward to hearing some responses, thanks for asking!

  • We did and as far as I know, it wasn't too hard (DH did it). I suggest buying a low-profile box spring, though, because in our case it is pretty high (most mattresses seem to be pretty tall). DS can climb in it using the bed frame, but too much taller and it would be an issue.

  • We just turned my older dd's into a full size bed. We weren't sure about needing a box spring so we put just the mattress we already had on it to see how it looked. It's perfect for now. It sits low compared to the front and back of the bed but it is at a height that it is easy for the girls to get in and out. When they get taller we will add the boxspring(maybe a low profile one like pp mentioned).

eta: I don't think it was hard to assemble. Everything lined up well. Dh & I did it all it about 20 mins.

  • Ours wasn't hard to put together - just had to buy the conversion kit (basically the side rails and wooden slats under the mattress).  I first put the boxspring and mattress on (we had it from our guest bed).  It was insanely tall - I even had trouble getting in and out and didn't feel comfortable with DD up that high.  We just got rid of the boxspring and use the mattress on the wooden slats.  I keep thinking we should put a piece of plywood over the slats, but DD isn't very heavy and it doesn't seem to be a problem.
