Re: Hip pain
my hips KILL. all day. they are worse in the morning after waking up (i'm guessing they are stiff). basically everything below my belly hurts.
i find if i sleep with my wedge pillow between my legs it helps a little, but not enough to take the aches and pains away. i think it's just that at this point we have gained so much weight/have so much baby in us that our lower half is worn out.
i'm sorry, i hope you get some relief!
Ugh we have well water and I havent ever taken a bath since we moved here 2 years ago... lol I guess i could put some bath salts in there and give it a go. Sounds like so much work to get out of the tub! lol but maybe it is worth it.
I am down to only working 3 days a week in the office. But i am here all day. Maybe i need to cut that down. I just figured at the time that if I am getting up/dressed/ ready and commuting I might as well just stay there. Now i am thinking at my next apt i will ask to be knocked down. Or see if my boss will be cool with me working from home more.. I dont think i can keep up this 8-9 hours a day.. I just dont want a reduced salary either! these kids are expensive!

the other ladies posting reminded me - the only time my hips feel good are when we go to the town pool. ahhh, weightlessness is sweet relief!
and as for getting out of the tub (i rarely take baths, but have a couple of times in pregnancy), i have DH come in and be my spotter. i'm afraid of slipping while trying to get up!
I had horrible hip pain when pg w/ DS #1. I ended up going to a chiropractor that was recommended from my OB (and had lots of experience w/ pg women). I guess it was all due to a very weakened ligament near my sacral-iliac joint (or more commonly referred to as the "SI joint"). The chiropractor helped to relieve the pain somewhat, but the best part was being able to lay on his table (stomach down) that had a section removed for your belly.
I also asked a bunch of the physical therapists that I work with what I could do to strengthen the area but unfortunately alot of the SI joint stretches are hard for a pregnant woman to do.
Either way I hope you get some relief soon!
I second (or third, fourth, fifth...whatever) other's comments about the water and getting better props while sleeping.
That being said, I am in exactly your position, right now. I'm super achy even just sitting in my chair at work (used to just be at night) and even a few pillows between my knees at night doesn't help a ton. It does seem to help to do slow "hula hoop" moves with my hips. I spread my feet to about shoulder width apart, and slowly (whatever speed is comfortable and lets you feel the stretch through your hips) hula my hips. I do that until it doesn't feel tight anymore (usually a couple of minutes, not a very long time at all) and that helps a bit. I also get my husband to massage my hips and legs at bed time which helps a lot.
Try laying on your side and pulling your knees up (as far as you can comfortably) with pillows between your knees. Roll something solid and cylindrical (like, a full shampoo bottle - I use a narrow bottle that has hair product in it) from your hip to your knee. If you push hard, it'll kind of hurt in a good way. You have a band that runs from your hip to your knee and it cramps pretty easily at this point. My husband is a life-long runner and coaches college cross-country, so he just started doing this to me one day. It was kind of painful and also wonderful at the same time. Roll up and down your leg a few times and take your time doing it. Switch sides and repeat. It'll help to loosen you up (I know it seems like the opposite of what you want) but when that muscle cramps up it is a BEAST and this will help to alleviate some of the ache at least.
