5 year molars?

is there such a thing?  DS keeps saying his mouth hurts and it looks like he's got white bumps back there, but I guess I thought the next set of molars came in much later.  He's only 4.5.

They are actually 6 year molars and DD got them at 4.75 so it can be them.  Be careful, as they are coming in the skin flaps over and food gets stuck.  It is the cause of our 2 cavities here.

Yup--those are molars.  DS started getting them around 4.5, but the last one is still coming in.

I think they are 6 year molars, but I'm sure there's a lot of variation on when kids actually get them.

ETA:  I think they are also the first set of permanent teeth.
