Wondering....

At what week did your babies come? Were you induced or have a scheduled c-section? How big were your babies? Did they require NICU time? If so, how long? Thanks for your responses! My OB has me a bit freaked out. I'm experiencing severe swelling in my legs...resulting in rapid weight gain. My BP is slightly elevated, but not over 120/80. He told me the other day I won't see my scheduled c-section date of Oct 18. Furthermore, he told me that babies will probably have an extended stay in the NICU. But, says bed rest is not required at this time. Ugh!!

  • I had a scheduled induction at 37w6d.

    They were 6.10 and 6.7.
    No NICU time.

FWIW, my dr didn't think I was going to make it to my scheduled induction either. Best of luck to you!

  • 32weeks 1 day. They were 4 lbs 7 oz, 4 lbs 8 oz. Required 2 months in NICU, and were released 2 days after my due date. I had an emergency Csection when my water broke, Baby A was at risk for a cord prolapse.

I was on modified bed rest 8 days before my csection... I had a positive Ffn 8 days prior with a tiny tiny tiny amount of spotting.

    Hope that helps!

  • Induced at 38w5d. Attempted a vaginal delivery but converted to a c/s.No NICU time. My MFM prepared DH and I to be ready to deliver between 34-36 wks due to one DD being labeled IUGR. I was closely monitored (had BPPs 2xs/wk) and ended up lasting til well after his predictions. And DD wasn't IUGR after all.

  • 36 weeks delivered, came home 4 days later, emergency c/s after 5 weeks of bedrest, 4 weeks hospital bed rest from pre-eclampsia, babies were 4 lbs 14 oz, 5 lbs 7 oz, no NICU time at all.  The long hospital stay was because I was having problems.

  • 36w4d after like 14w of bedrest, including 4w in the hospital. I delivered due to rising BP. Even with all my bedrest, my dr's were always confident in me that I'd make it to at least 35w. No NICU time needed. We all came home together.
  • Babies born at 36w6d via scheduled c-section. The doctors wouldn't let me go past 36 weeks because of previous surgeries. Girls were 6lb1oz and 5lb8oz. No NICU time. I had GD and was on insulin during the pregnancy but had no other complications. We were all discharged together.
  • I was induced at 38w1d.  Everyone expected me to deliver earlier than that but I just kept plugging right along!   DD weighed 5lb 4oz and DS weighed 5lb 15oz - no NICU time.

  • My girls came at 36w2d when my water broke.  I had been on bed rest for 16 weeks (including 3 weeks in the hospital) due to a short cervix and preterm labor.  When they found I had a short cervix that was funneling at 20 weeks, my OB said my first goal should be 28 weeks.  I think she was shocked I made it to 36!

My girls were 7 lbs 2 oz and 5 lbs 12 oz and required no NICU time.  They just had some jaundice and required phototherapy.

  • After a fairly uneventful pregnancy, my water broke at 35w5d. M weighed 4 lb 5 oz and N weighed 5 lb 8 oz. Miraculously, no NICU time was needed, not even for my little M. We all went home together four days later. I'm still counting my blessings.
  • 34.6 weeks.  They were 4.2 lbs and 5.9 lbs.  Two weeks NICU stay.

  • I was on bedrest for 11 weeks due to a short cervix & funneling.  My water broke at 35 weeks and I delivered vaginally. Nadia was 5lbs 13 oz and was in the NICU for 12 days and Scarlett was 5lbs 7oz and in the NICU for 10 days. They both needed to learn to eat.

  • I went into labor on my own at 36w2d after a complication free pregnancy.  My babies were delivered vaginally at 6lbs and 5lbs2oz.  DS required one night in the NICU but we all came home together 2 days after they were born.

  • My Girls were born at 35 weeks. My BP started slowly climbing around 30 weeks. I started spilling protein, and my platelets dropped, so I had an emergency Induction.  Baby A was 5lbs 5.5oz and  Baby B was 5lbs even. They were in the NICU for 14 and 16 days.  The first 2 days they needed breathing assistance, the first 5 they needed assistance with regulating body temp.  After that, they only had issues eating and growing.  They are both very healthy 6 1/2 month olds now, and you would never know they were preemies!

I had insulin dependent GD, PIH, SPD and bedrest starting at 26w. But they are very very healthy. And I'm fine now. :)

  • I was scheduled for a c/s at 38 weeks but went into labor at 36w4d. I had been on bedrest and meds for preterm contractions since 28 weeks but went off the meds at 36 weeks.

My boys were 5lbs 7oz and 5lbs 13oz and had no NICU time.

  • Scheduled c/s at 39 weeks. Babies weighed 6lb 7oz and 6lb 6oz.  Me and babies released in 2 days.  I worked until the end, and was blessed with no bed rest and relatively complication free pregnancy.

You can do it!  Your doc should make you aware because there are major risks, but he should also be encouraging and supportive.  Just focus on taking care of you and your LOs and all will be well.

  • 35w1d after a fairly uncomplicated pregnancy until a bad growth scan at 34w5d. Baby A was IUGR and 3 lbs 8oz, 17 days nicu growing. Baby B was 5 even and went right home.
  • Scheduled c section at 36 weeks.  Four days later Ava left the hospital with us for one night and we picked up Grace the next morning from the NICU.
  • I forgot to say they were 4 and 5 lbs. at birth.  The only reason Grace needed NICU time was due to her weight.
